Service-Learning - Learning, Service, and Civic Engagement

Introduction

This tutorial contains sections that explore various aspects of service-learning, including the benefits for you and your students, some examples of service-learning projects, and information about grants. These sections should provide a solid base around which you can design your own projects and curriculum. There is also a quiz and activity; the quiz will reinforce the content of the tutorial, and the activity will help you start developing an approach to service-learning for your courses.

This tutorial also provides two large reading lists. One of the reading lists consists of general service-learning texts; the other lists provides resources for specific disciplines. These texts will be helpful as you move forward with your curriculum development.

It won't necessarily take long to finish this tutorial; many people will finish in less than an hour. However, the activity can take more time than that, especially if you have more than one project in mind.
